Santa Marta di Penagián ( port. Santa Marta de Penaguião ; [ 'sɐ̃tɐ' maɾtɐ dɨ pɨnɐgi'ɐ̃ũ ]) is an urban-type village in Portugal , the center of the municipality of the same name as part of the Vila Real district. According to the old administrative division, it was part of the province of Traz-u-Montish and Altu-Douro . Included in the economic and statistical subregion of Douro , which is part of the Northern region . The population is 1.3 thousand inhabitants (village), 8.6 thousand inhabitants (municipality) in 2001 . It covers an area of 70 km².
