The film tells about a fictional island where scientists created an amusement park with cloned dinosaurs . John Hammond ( Richard Attenborough ) invites a group of scientists, played by Sam Neill , Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern , to inspect the park before it opens. Because of the sabotage by one of the employees, dinosaurs break through, and the technical staff and visitors try to escape.

Spielberg acquired the rights to the novel even before its publication in 1990, and Crichton was hired to adapt his work. David Kepp wrote the final version of the script, in which most of the scenes from the novel were absent, and numerous changes were made to the characters of the characters. To create animatronic dinosaur models, Spielberg invited Stan Winston's studio, whose works were then combined with computer special effects created by Industrial Light & Magic . Paleontologist Jack Horner was invited to help artists and animators create realistic dinosaur models. Filming took place from August 24 to November 30, 1992 on the islands of Kauai and Oahu ( Hawaiian archipelago ), as well as in California .

"Jurassic Park" is considered a milestone in the use of computer special effects and received many positive feedback from film critics who praised their quality, although the reaction to other elements of the picture, such as creating characters, was ambiguous. In the world box office, the film earned $ 914,000,000 , becoming the most successful film at that time, and in the Finnish box office it became the most popular film in 1993, with an audience of 476,257. Taking into account the rental of the 3D version of 2013, the film broke the $ 1 billion mark, becoming The 16th film has reached this mark. For 2019, the film is on the 33rd place among the highest-grossing films in the world box office and on the 33rd in the United States . The Jurassic Park gave birth to a whole media franchise , including the successful Jurassic Park 2 sequels : The Lost World ( 1997 ) and the Jurassic Park 3 ( 2001 ). In 2015, the fourth part of the franchise “ Jurassic World ” franchise took place, and in 2018, the fifth part premiered .

In 2011, the film entered the list of the most reliable sci-fi films according to NASA [3] .

Story

The head of InGen, Professor John Hammond, finds a way to recreate dinosaurs through genetic engineering . He finds the genetic material in mosquitoes , which millions of years ago drank the blood of dinosaurs, and then, sowing on a tree, were tied up in wood resin, forming inclusions . The missing code fragments in DNA are complemented by fragments of the code of modern amphibians - frogs . Hammond creates a huge park, the inhabitants of which are dinosaurs.

When transporting one of the velociraptors , an incident occurs resulting in the death of the employee. Because of this, investors are beginning to put pressure on Hammond and force him to conduct a trial excursion for competent people before opening the park. As such experts, Hammond chooses paleontologists Alan Grant and Ally Sattler, mathematician Jan Malcolm and lawyer of his investors - Donald Gennaro. All invitees are shocked to see real dinosaurs alive. However, during the discussion on the side of Hammond, who wants to open the park, there remains only a lawyer. The rest relate to such a venture with great caution and doubt. Hammond starts the tour for its visitors. After a short cartoon showing the technology of recreating extinct species, guests arrive at the laboratory, where dinosaurs are bred. There they observe how the velociraptor hatch from the egg. The fact that predators are bred on the island begins to disturb Grant. Malcolm wondered how the park staff managed to control the population. A geneticist assures him that all individuals on the island are female and, therefore, the unauthorized reproduction of dinosaurs is impossible. After that, four visitors go on a tour of the park on two automatic electric vehicles . Hammond's grandchildren, Lexi and Timmy, join them. However, dinosaurs do not want to appear either for nothing, or for bait. On the way, the park guests get out of the car to look at Triceratops . After inspecting everything except Ally, who stays with the veterinarian to look after Triceratops, they return to their cars. Meanwhile, one of the park's employees, Dennis Nedry, a programmer bribed by competitors, disables the protection system in order to gain access to the repository of embryos from which he must remove dinosaur embryos. Being late for the ship, which sails from the island of the park in just a few minutes, Dennis does not cope with the control and gets stuck in his jeep. Trying to pull the jeep with a winch, Nedry meets with Dilophosaurus and becomes his victim.

Map of Costa Rica. Coconut is a desert island in the Pacific Ocean , which served as the prototype for the fictional island of Nublar, where the film was unfolding.

After the protection system is turned off, electric vehicles with sightseers stop right in front of the pen of a tyrannosaur . Realizing that the protective voltage is turned off, tyrannosaurus breaks the fence and goes to the electric vehicles with park visitors. Trying to hide, lawyer Donald runs into the toilet next to him. Children remaining in the first car, inadvertently attract the attention of a tyrannosaur, which attacks and overturns the car. Trying to divert the dinosaur to itself, Yang gets a serious leg injury and is buried under the rubble of the toilet, which the dinosaur destroys. Then the latter eats Gennaro sitting in the toilet. Reaching the first car, Alan manages to get Lexie out of her, but Timmy stays in the car. Tyrannosaurus returns to the first car and drops it off a cliff with Timmy. Thus, Alan and the grandchildren of Hammond are alone in the park. On the way to the control center, they find a shell of eggs, from which dinosaurs hatched. This confirmed Jan Malcolm’s fears that “life will break through obstacles”: males appeared, as parts of modern amphibian DNA were used to repair damaged DNA, capable of changing their sex if necessary.

The wounded Jan Malcolm is saved from death by Ellie and the huntsman Robert Muldoon, having a hard time tearing off in a jeep from the pursuit of the returned tyrannosaur. They join John Hammond and Chief Engineer Ray Arnold, who are trying to turn on the security system. After the system is rebooted, it is necessary to start the generators in a bunker located near the control center. First, Arnold himself goes to him. He does not return for a long time, which causes concern for the rest (later it turns out that he died). Allie and Robert are heading to the bunker. After reaching the surface, Muldoon realizes that the velociraptors managed to get out of a special fortified pen, and now he and Ellie are in mortal danger. By sending Ellie to the bunker, Robert intends to shoot a velociraptor that blocked the way. However, the velociraptor is not the only one. While Robert is preparing to shoot him, another velociraptor attacks him from the side and kills him. Ellie manages to safely reach the distribution board. On it, it alternately launches the park's security systems, after which it is also exposed to a sudden attack by a velociraptor. But she manages to escape from the bunker, having locked the predator in him.

Meanwhile, Alan, Timmy and Lexi get to the fence, in which there is no tension. Lexi and Alan manage to climb over the fence, but Timmy does not have time to go down before Ally turns on the system responsible for the tension on the fence. Because of this, Timmy gets a serious electric shock, but Alan saves him.

Then Alan, Timmy and Lexi get to the guest center. Children temporarily remain alone. The guest center turned out to be an unsafe place, two velociraptors penetrate there. However, the children manage to escape from them. Alan meets Ellie, returns to the guest center and finds frightened children there. The four of them are trying to hide from the velociraptors haunting them. In the hall, two velociraptors surround them, but at the very last moment one of them becomes a victim of a suddenly appeared tyrannosaurus reawaken. After the death of his relative, the second velociraptor rushes at the Tyrannosaurus Rex, but also dies. Taking advantage of the moment, Alan, Ellie, Timmy and Lexi escape from there. Joining Hammond and Malcolm, everyone gets on a helicopter and leaves the island. John Hammond decides to leave the venture with the park.
