Staying a Life was recorded during the 1985 Metal Heart Tour on the penultimate day of performances in Japan . The album contains only concert material, without studio overlays, but is "cut" not in accordance with the performance.
The European version of the CD consists of two discs, with the same order of songs (1-8 disc 1, 9-19 disc 2). The American version of the CD consists of one disc, the order of the songs is the same, but Neon Night, Burning, Head over Heels, Outro (Bound to Fail) are excluded .
