WTX is a standard computer form factor developed by Intel in 1998 specifically for the powerful servers of the time on the Xeon platform.
History
Despite the existence of two other form factor standards by the time the standard appeared - AT and ATX , the concept of which made it possible to use power supplies sufficient to meet the needs of personal computers , these standards were not enough for powerful workstations and servers. In addition, in their case, there was a great need for providing normal cooling, convenient support for multiprocessor configurations, placing large amounts of RAM, controller ports, data storage devices and input-output ports.
In connection with these problems , the WTX specification was created in 1998 , aimed at supporting dual-processor motherboards of any configurations and various video card and memory technologies.
