It is part of a large metropolitan area of Greater Porto . According to the old administrative division, it was part of the province of Douro-Litoral . Included in the economic and statistical subregion of Entre Dourou i Vouga , which is part of the Northern region . The population is 2138 people. It covers an area of 9.01 km².
