Makhonovo is a village of the Dobrovsky rural settlement of the Dobrovsky district of the Lipetsk region . It stands on the Chaplyginsky highway and stretches southeast towards the village of Dobry .

It is known that in 1782 it was already a village with a church (the temple exists to this day). It can be assumed that Makhonovo appeared either in the 17th century or at the beginning of the 18th century . In 1862, in the owner's village, there were 96 yards with 713 residents (351 males and 362 females) [2] .
The name is patronymic ; it comes from the name Makhonov .
On the western side of the Chaplyginsky highway in Makhonovo is a dairy farm.
