Subarctic belt ( Subarctic ) - a natural geographical zone in the Northern Hemisphere , bordering the Arctic belt (Arctic) in the north and the temperate zone in the south. Lies between about 60 Β° and 70 Β° C. w.
In the subarctic tundra and forest-tundra prevail. The tundra zone (tundra) is distinguished in the colder northern part, and the forest-tundra zone (forest-tundra) in the warmer southern part.
Geographical position
In the ocean, the subarctic belt is determined by the distribution limits of seasonal ice - between the winter and summer boundaries of their distribution. In summer, ice-free water heats up somewhat, it is saturated with oxygen.
Feature
The subarctic belt is characterized by a subarctic climate : Summer is short, cold not higher than +10, but warmer and longer than in the tundra. At this time, moderate air mass dominates. Winter is long, cold, blizzards, winds; dominated by the Arctic Seasonality is not clearly expressed, there is the possibility of a sharp cooling. Animal world
