Almost nothing is known about him to us. His traces are lost when in 1002, Jayaviraravarman seizes his power.
Danish scientist F.D.K. Bosch believes that Udayadyavarman I and Jayaviravarman were brothers who grew up in Java , where their mother fled from the Khmer court. Bosch claims that Udayadyavarman I married a local princess and became the ruler of Bali , taking the name Udayan, and later returned to Cambodia and seized the throne. And having gained power, he ceded it to his brother Narapativivavarman , who took the name of Jayaviravarman .
Jayaviraravarman, having been defeated in battle by Suryavarman I , returned to Java and regained his former name - Narapativivavarman.
