Indravarman I

Indravarman I (d. 889 ) - Emperor of the Khmer Empire (877-889).

The king, like his entire reign, was an exemplary example of what a monarch should be.

He transformed Hariharalaya , the capital of the Khmer Empire, built Indratataku's barai around the island temple of Loli , in which the waters of the Roluos River accumulated for subsequent submission to the city and rice fields.

In 879, Indravarman I built the temple of Preahko in Hariharalaya in memory of the ancestors and followed these - introduces the cult of deification of monarchs, in 881 on Mount Bakong was consecrated and became the storage place of the royal linga - the symbol of the Devaraja and Indravarman himself.

By the time of his death in 889 , the borders of the Khmer Empire in the north expanded to Ubon (Thailand), and in the south to Phnom Bayang, the southernmost tip of Cambodia.

The posthumous name of Indravarman I is Ishwaralok .
