Content
Story
The film opens with an epigraph - quoting Vladimir Vysotsky ’s song “ Hunting the Wolves ” and performing another of his songs in French - Rien Ne Va (My Gypsy) recorded on the 1977 La Corde Raide CD .
The film takes place in November 1982, immediately after the death of Brezhnev . A young investigator, an intern at the Moscow City Prosecutor’s Office, Alexander Turetsky, and his supervisor, Merkulov, are participating in an investigation into domestic murder. However, it turns out that representatives of the highest party power in the country are involved in the crime.
In the center of Moscow, the head of the headquarters of Vneshtorg Rakitin was found hanged. On the same day, in the room of a Moscow hotel booked in the name of Rakitin, his lover, the Bolshoi ballerina, Valeria Kupriyanova, was found murdered. It gradually becomes clear that Rakitin became aware of information of extreme importance, which he wanted to convey to someone ...
If the events happened a year earlier, the matter would be hushed up immediately. But the power in the country is de facto taken over by Yuri Andropov , who for the sake of order will not stop before anyone, although Mikhail Georgadze himself, secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR , is the person involved. The prosecutor’s office receives a search warrant in his house, Georgadze himself is arrested and soon dies.
Meanwhile, other structures in the KGB became interested in the matter. The investigation reveals a dark story related to the " party gold " and the fraud of KGB general Kassarin, who is ready to stop investigators at all costs. Turkish also comes into view. Kassarin first tries to recruit a young investigator, but he does not succeed. Soon, a real hunt opens for the members of the investigation team.
