The series is used to build anti-accident automatic protection systems (ESD) and alarm systems , discrete and cyclic control , automatic control of technological processes in various industries. [one]
The controllers of this series are available in both explosion-proof and non-explosion-proof versions. Explosion-proof versions are labeled [Exia] IIC], [Exiaga] IIC or 0ExiaIICT6 [2] [3] .
The BAZIS series controllers have both non-contained and measuring channel versions. [2] [3]
BASIS series controllers comply with Federal norms and rules in the field of industrial safety “General rules of explosion safety for explosive chemical, petrochemical and oil refining industries”, Technical Regulations of the Customs Union “On safety of equipment for working in explosive environments” (ТР ТС 012/2011), current standards . In the controllers of this series, a number of inventions are used (for example, for regulation - copyright certificates for inventions No. 705417, 970319 and 1833834 [4] ).

Initially, the name BASIS was an abbreviation - B lok A of the Variable ZA shichi i S iNalizatsii.
The history of the creation and development of the series
The development of the BAZIS series began in 1997. The first generation of controllers includes the BAZIS-1 controller and the external display unit BVT (discontinued in 2000). These controllers could only receive signals from electrocontact sensors .
The second generation includes controllers BAZIS-3, BAZIS-4 (produced from 2000 to 2007; currently discontinued). These controllers were already able to receive signals from two-position sensors, thermocouples , 3/4-wire resistance thermocouples , and passive / active current sensors with hardware-defined calibrations.
The third generation includes the controllers BAZIS-12 (universal version), BAZIS-21 (with monochrome LCDs ) and BAZIS-35 (produced from 2001 to 2016), as well as an improved BVT external display unit (produced from 2001 to the present) .
By the fourth generation of controllers are the performance of the controller BAZIS-21 with a color LCD diagonal of 5.7 and 10.4 inches (produced from 2007 to the present). These controllers receive signals from two-position sensors, thermocouples, 3/4-wire resistance thermocouples, pulse (frequency-pulse, frequency) and current passive / active sensors with programmable graduations according to the appropriate GOST. The fifth generation of controllers includes the programmable logic controller BAZIS-100 [5] , as well as new versions of the controllers BAZIS-14 (BAZIS-14.TCR, BAZIS-14.ZR and BAZIS-14.R) [6] , BAZIS-35 ( BAZIS-35.TSS and BASIS-35.S) [7] and BASIS-RHYTHM (BASIS-RITM.TOK, BASIS-RITM.RIM, BASIS-RITM.SHIM, BAZIS-RITM.I and BAZIS-RITM.P) [8] .
The 7th of May 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of the first controller of the BAZIS series.
Controller Versions
BASIS series controllers can be divided into the following groups [1] :
- PLC;
- basic controllers;
- external devices.
The first group includes the modular controller BAZIS-100 [5] .
The second group includes:
- controllers for registration, regulation and protection of BASIS-14 [9] - have the following versions:
- the registrar (BAZIS-14.TSR);
- PAZ (BAZIS-14.ZR);
- the regulator (BASIS-14.R);
- emergency protection and alarm units BAZIS-21 [9] - have the following versions:
- Registrar (BAZIS-21. CR, BAZIS-21.2CR);
- PAZ + Registrar (BAZIS-21. C, BASIS-21.2C);
- PAZ + Registrar + Regulator (BAZIS-21.2TsU);
- Regulator (BAZIS-21. РР, BAZIS-21.2РР);
- The technological signaling and protection units BAZIS-35 [7] have the following versions:
- ESD and alarm systems (BASIS-35.CC);
- Management of executive mechanisms (BAZIS-35. UK);
- ESD and alarm systems (BAZIS-35 and BAZIS-35.U, discontinued);
- BAZIS-12 control and protection units (removed from production and replaced with BASIS-14 controllers) [10] - have the following modifications:
- Regulator double-circuit (BAZIS-12.RR);
- Regulation + ESD + Alarm (BAZIS-12.URS);
- PAZ (BAZIS-12.ZR);
- PAZ + Alarm (BASIS-12.ZRS);
- Single-loop controller (BAZIS-12.R);
- Universal sp. (BASIS-12, discontinued);
- BASIS-3, BAZIS-4 and BAZIS-1 emergency protection and alarm units (currently discontinued).
The controllers of this group are used both autonomously and in the organization of networks. [one]
The third group includes:
- stand-alone modules of the controller BAZIS-100;
- remote converters BAZIS-61, BAZIS-62;
- external scoreboard units BVT-12B and BVT-24B;
- alarm controllers BAZIS-35.S.
These controllers are used to increase the information capabilities of the base controllers and create distributed systems and complexes via the BASIS-SHR expansion bus. The expansion bus allows you to connect to the base controllers that support the expansion bus, alarm blocks and additional input / output modules. [one]

Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of the BASIS series of controllers include the following:
- for all BASIS series controllers:
- Intrinsic [Exia] IIC (Intrinsically Safe) Barriers;
- built-in power supply sensors;
- full-fledged universal channels (receive signals from thermocouples, 3/4-wire resistance thermocouples, current sensors powered from the controller, two-position, including NAMUR);
- simple scaling of the solution (including phased);
- availability of printed and electronic versions of operational documentation;
- free service software (configuration program, archive reading program, OPC server) included in the delivery set.
- additionally for monoblocks:
- the presence of the indicator, control buttons and sound alarm;
- small dimensions and weight;
- additionally for PLC:
- redundancy of modules (power, processor, input / output, etc.);
- duplication of internal and external interfaces;
- "Hot" replacement / add / remove modules;
- Hot loading configuration
Among the common shortcomings of the monoblock BAZIS series can be noted:
- some modules do not have per-channel galvanic isolation;
- no redundancy of modules;
- controllers solve local automation problems, since the information capacity of tasks is severely limited.
The disadvantages of the BASIS series of generation 3 and 4 controllers additionally include:
- there is no possibility to arbitrarily combine spark-proof modules and modules without spark protection;
- outdated element base (at the moment);
- outdated design and user interface.
