Story
Bill Pullman plays the famous neurosurgeon Rex Martin, who is actively studying human brain dysfunctions that cause mental illness . He has a whole gallery of alcoholic brains in the banks that he examines, treats them like individuals.
Martin's fellow student Jim Reston, a successful Eunice businessman, asks him to read the minds of John Halsey, a former mathematical genius who worked for the corporation. Eunice requires the right side of a certain equation erased by John, or the certainty that no one else will know this information. Now, Halsey is paranoid (moreover, it is alleged that he killed his entire family) and is being held in a mental hospital . Reston insists on the study, uttering a strange phrase: "Think that everything could be worse: you could be a patient, and Halsey - a doctor." Almost immediately after this conversation, Dr. Martin was hit by a car.
Martin takes on an operation that involves manipulating Halsey’s open brain. The doctor changes the mental state of Halsey in an attempt to find out corporate secrets from his brain. However, as he moves forward, Martin begins to experience paranoid dreams and confuse sleep with reality . He moves farther from reality and it becomes unclear whether the doctor Martin and Halsey are his patient, a crazy genius, or Halsey is an insane employee of the company Ed Conklin, who produces mattresses, and Martin is his nonsense. And now Martina is being dissected on the brain, and his former assistant turns out to be an Eunice accountant. As a result, Martin (or Halsey?) Dies on the operating table, never leaving delusional hallucinations, and his brain replenishes the collection.
