The film was released by MGM in collaboration with Titanus, and was produced by Goffredo Lombardo . Dialogs for the Italian version were written by Giorgio Prosperi. The music in the film differs in different versions: in the American version it was written by Bronislaw Kaper , and in the Italian version - Angelo Francesco Lavagnino . The cameraman is Giuseppe Rotunno .

Story
Spain , 30s of the XX century , civil war . The main character of the film is the priest Arturo Carrera. Initially, he was supposed to join Franco's troops like the whole church. But gradually the worldview of Arturo is changing and he independently abandons his spiritual rank.
Now everyone is hunting the former priest: leftists, anti-fascists, anti-clericals. And he is forced to hide from everyone, moving around the country. During his ordeals, Arturo meets the beautiful prostitute Soledad. They fall in love with each other and continue the journey together. At the end of the film, they are still arrested by anti-Francoists .
