Biography
Born in a peasant family. Graduated from Moscow State Pedagogical Institute (1931). In 1931-1943 Lecturer, Head of Department, Sverdlovsk University .
In 1943-1946 head of the department of the Sverdlovsk city committee of the CPSU (b), in 1946-1947 secretary of the Sverdlovsk city committee of the CPSU (b) for propaganda.
After speaking at a philosophical discussion in 1947, he was invited to Moscow [2] . In 1947-1948 Deputy Head of the Department of Science of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks .
In 1948-1951 deputy director of the Institute of Philosophy of the USSR Academy of Sciences , since 1948 professor of Moscow State University, simultaneously in 1949-52 Editor-in-chief of the journal Voprosy Filosofii .
In 1952-1953 Head of the Department of Philosophy and History of the Central Committee, member of the Standing Commission on Ideological Issues under the Presidium of the Central Committee of the CPSU , chief editor of the journal " Communist ".
In 1953-1955 Head of the Department of the Gorky Regional Committee of the CPSU . In 1955-1957 Secretary of the Gorky Regional Committee of the CPSU. He also worked at the Gorky Pedagogical Institute .
In 1957-1959 Chairman of the State Committee on Broadcasting and Television at the Council of Ministers of the USSR .
Dmitry Ivanovich Chesnokov, who previously worked on the Presidium of the CPSU Central Committee, was appointed Chairman of the Broadcasting and Television Committee. Despite his former high position, he was a modest man. Such party workers were quite rare. Clever, a philosopher by education, he devoted his scientific life to the study of Herzen's work, in which he was very successful.

Doctor of Philosophy ( 1951 ), professor, specialist in Russian philosophy. Member of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences . The author of many books.
Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the third degree (1951) for the work “The World View of A. I. Herzen”, laureate of the 2nd Prize named after MV Lomonosov for the book “Historical Materialism” (1965) [3] .
Member of the CPSU (b) since 1939 . Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (1952-56),
Since 1970, retired.
He was buried in Moscow, at the Danilovsky cemetery .
He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Red Banner of Labor, and the Badge of Honor. Honored Scientist of the RSFSR (1970).
His daughter Bela Gaimakova (b. 1934) - professor, candidate of historical sciences, honorary radio operator, honorary worker of higher education of the Russian Federation. Son - Grigory Dmitrievich (b. 1937) - Doctor of Philosophy, professor, works at Moscow City Pedagogical University.
