Heselchakan ( Spanish: Hecelchakán ) is the city and administrative center of the eponymous municipality in Mexico , Campeche . The population according to the 2010 census was 10,285 .

General information
The name Hecelchakán from the Mayan language can be translated as the savannah of relaxation .
The settlement was founded by the Maya Indians in the 16th century near the cenote .
In 1957, Heselchakan was given the status of a city [2] .
