Lockoutletters. “Lock the door in front of someone and not let in”) - a temporary stoppage of work (or a significant reduction in the volume of production) of the enterprise by the employer with the termination of payment of wages , in order to exert pressure on workers (analogous to a strike , but on the part of the employer, not the workers).
The extreme form of a lockout is collective dismissal , as well as dissolution at the initiative of the employer in connection with a labor dispute and a strike, as well as the liquidation (reorganization) of an enterprise, representative office or branch.
The Russian Federal Law “On the Procedure for the Resolution of Collective Labor Disputes” of October 20, 1999 (it has lost force on October 6, 2006 on the basis of Federal Law of June 30, 2006 N 90-ФЗ) prohibited lockout in the process of settlement of a collective labor dispute , including including during a strike. Art. 415 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation , which prohibits lockout, is the dismissal of employees on the initiative of the employer in connection with their participation in a collective labor dispute or in a strike.
Also called a “lockout” is a bicycle cushioning lock system that serves to stiffen a bicycle and reduce pedal energy loss.
