Ainu Islands - a group of islands in the Barents Sea , in the Gulf of Varanger Fjord . Administratively included in the Pechenga district of the Murmansk region of Russia.

It includes two islands: Big Ain and Small Ain [1] . Located 5 km from the Middle Peninsula .
Between the islands is a strait up to 17 m deep [1] . On the territory of the islands are nesting birds. The islands are part of the Kandalaksha Reserve .
Since 1920 until 1940 were part of Finland . After the war, they moved to the USSR under the Moscow Treaty of 1940 .
