Name Origin
The name of the street was approved in 1986, as it is part of the old road leading to Kaluga . Previously called “Kaluga highway” [1] , “Starokaluga highway” [2] or both names were indicated [3] .
History
The Kaluga highway started from the Kaluga outpost and, “having traveled less than 1 km along the area built up with houses and small factories, the Vorobyevskoye highway going west was branched off from itself, and making a slight bend here, rushed to the south-west. 2.5 km further from it, the Borovskoye highway branched off ... The Kaluga highway, after leaving the Borovskoye highway, went almost directly to the south ” [4] . “At the exit from the Kaluga highway Borovsky, on the left side of the first, there was a brick factory, and further, on both sides of this highway, the village of Semenovskoye with orchards. 3 km from Semenovsky there was the Vorontsovo state farm with a park and two brick factories ... From Semenovsky, the buildings along the highway stretched almost to Vorontsov ” [5] . At the end of 1957, the initial part of the highway (to Lomonosovsky Prospekt ) became part of Leninsky Prospekt .
In August 1960, the Kaluga highway to the village of Teply Stan became a part of Moscow , and along it in 1964-1968 the construction of residential areas Belyaevo, Derevlyovo and Konkovo began. In the early 1970s, Profsoyuznaya Street ran parallel to the highway from Obruchev Street to the Moscow Ring Road , and the importance of the old highway as a transport highway came to naught. It was partially built up, partially preserved in the form of secondary driveways. In addition to the Starokaluga highway proper, sections between Lomonosovsky Prospekt and Vavilova Street (as an intra-quarter drive) and between Ostrovityanova Street and Teply Stan Street (as an understudy of Profsoyuznaya Street, 100 m parallel to the last) were preserved.
Buildings and Structures
At the beginning of the highway is the main entrance to the park of the former Vorontsovo estate .
Transport
At the beginning of the highway there is a bus stop 616 and 721: Vorontsov Park. At the end of the highway is the Kaluzhskaya metro station . There are no public transport routes on the highway.
