Maciej Kuroń ( Polish; Maciej Kuroń ; March 8, 1960 , Warsaw - December 25, 2008 , Isabelin ) is a Polish culinary specialist and restaurateur , and an activist of the student protest movement in the early 1980s. Protest Activist

Born in the family of leftist dissident Jacek Kuroека , one of the founders of the Committee for the Protection of Workers , a prominent figure in Solidarity . He is a historian by education. In 1980 , as a student at the Pedagogical University in Olsztyn , he led student speeches in support of the strike movement. Since September 1980 - one of the leaders of the Independent Union of Students . The organizer and leader of student strikes demanding the abolition of the teaching of Marxist-Leninist disciplines.

A particularly tense situation has developed at the university, where the strike is led by the son of the counter-revolutionary Kouronya.

Under martial law, Maciej Kurson Jr. was expelled from Warsaw University . Engaged in independent historical research. Subsequently, he studied at the Culinary Institute of America.

Culinary and TV reporter

After the change of the social system in Poland, Maciej Kuron - unlike his father - moved away from politics and took up cooking . He became a famous cook , then the owner of a restaurant in Warsaw .

Kouronya still has a son - Maciej. He ... preferred to open his own restaurant in the center of Warsaw. This is a very successful enterprise in which they feed well (I know from my own experience) and which is never empty.

Maciej Curon is the author of a number of cookbooks, prescription collections, in particular Kuchnia Polska. Kuchnia Rzeczypospolitej wielu narodów (about the cuisine of the Commonwealth ). He was the host of the television programs Gotuj z Kuroniem , Niebo w gębie , Kuroń raz , Graj z Kuroniem .

He was a member of the Stowarzyszenie Wolnego Słowa - Free Speech Association - an organization that protects freedom of information and journalistic rights.

Demise and reward

Maciej Curon suddenly died [2] in his house in the village of Isabelin ( Commune Isabelin ) from heart failure. He was buried in the Old Powzki cemetery.

On the day of the funeral, January 7, 2009 , he was posthumously awarded the Cross of an officer of the Order of the Renaissance of Poland - "for outstanding achievements in the cause of democratic transformation and participation in the formation of the social attitudes of the Poles."
