Santiago do Cacein ^[1] ^[2] ( port. Santiago do Cacém ; [sɐ̃ti'agu du kɐ'sɐ̃ĩ] ) is a city in Portugal , the center of the eponymous municipality of Setubal County. The population is 7.3 thousand inhabitants (city), 30.2 thousand inhabitants (municipality). The city is part of the Alentejo region, in the Alentejo-Litoral subregion. According to the old administrative division, it was part of the province of Baixu Alentejo .

The city is located 60 km south of Setubal and 12 km east of the Atlantic Ocean
