The participant of the First World War : mobilized in 1916, served at the headquarters of the 11th army, in 1917 demobilized for injury. [a 2]
Andrei Starostin in the book “Meetings in a football orbit” described Platon Ippolitov’s running style [a 3] :
... But nevertheless, it was Plato Ippolitov who, like no one, brought me into an enthusiastic state with his inconceivably easy jogging, I would say, musically adjusted rhythm of cornering movements, artistic plasticity during the passage of a straight line. Platon Afanasyevich Ippolitov ran so without apparent difficulty that his failures caused me to wonder: why did he lose, did he not seem tired at all?
In the 1920s – 1930s he was a sports journalist. In the 1930s - Head of Speed Skating and Cycling Department of the All-Union Committee for Physical Culture and Sport . [a 1]
Died in 1951; buried at the Vagankovo cemetery of Moscow. [a 4]
