Scenes is entirely instrumental. The album's compositions are saturated with oriental melodies. The participation of Japanese pianist Kitaro gave the Scenes album a special touch.

The disc has nothing in common with its predecessor in style. What makes this album unusual is that Kitaro and Marty did not spend a single minute in the studio talking on the phone with each other. Kitaro worked with recordings that were sent to his studio in Colorado , while Marty was in Los Angeles at that time.

The union of these two musicians gave an album that showed that you can create music in which the expression of feelings is superior to a technical guitar playing. Marty Friedman in his style has done much more than hundreds of guitarists, the main criterion for which is speed.

“Scenes” reaches the level of musicality, allowing Marty Friedman to be considered one of the greatest contemporary composers.
