Stevedore node

A stevedore knot is a rope knot based on the " eight " knot, which, like the "eight", can be tied with one hand [1] . The origin of the node name is associated with the applied manual on the work with the nodes of the American cable company Stevedore Roops [2] .

The knot is a stopper for the cables passing through the pulleys of the blocks. The node is designed to thicken the cable.

Many of its variants are used in fishing: double stevedore, reinforced stevedore, etc. [3]
