Career

Liverpool

Warnock is a graduate of the Liverpool Football Academy and, before making his debut on the first team of the Reds , went on loan twice - first to Bradford City and then to Coventry City . He first entered the field in a Liverpool match in August 2004, in the third qualifying round of the Champions League in a duel with the Austrian Graz . Warnock played fairly confidently and during the season was able to oust the Australian Harry Kewell , an experienced, but prone to injury.

In the 2005/06 season, he finally moved to the defense, where he had to compete with Norwegian John-Arne Riise . Stephen scored his first (and last) goal for Liverpool on March 15, 2006 at the Fulham gates. By the beginning of the 2006/07 season, Warnock began to show more and more dissatisfaction with his position in the team, and in the end, the club decided to part with it by selling it to Blackburn Rovers , where Stephen could get more match practice [2] .

Blackburn Rovers

Although the deal between the two clubs was planned in the summer of 2006, the transition took place only in January 2007 [3] [4] . Initially it was assumed that in exchange for Warnock, Liverpool would get defender Lukas Neal [5] , but the Australian at the last moment preferred London to Liverpool and transferred to West Ham United . As a result, the transfer of Warnock "Blackburn" paid in money. It is estimated that the amount was about one and a half million pounds . Warnow's debut in the new team took place in the fourth round match of the FA Cup against Luton Town , in which the victory was won with a score of 4: 0. Stephen scored his first goal on February 25, 2007 in a match against Portsmouth (3: 0).

Aston Villa

In the summer of 2009, it became known that Aston Villa intends to buy out Warnock's contract from Blackburn. On August 26, this was confirmed by the official website of the Birmingham Club [6] , and on August 27 it was announced that Stephen had moved to Aston Villa [7] . As a “villain” player, he was presented before the Europa League match against Vienna “ Rapid ”, which the new Uornok club won with a score of 1: 2 [8] .

Leeds United

On the last day of the transfer window on January 31, 2013, Warnock signed a two-year agreement with Leeds United [9] . He made his debut for his new club on January 9, 2013 in a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers , the first goal of Leeds Steven scored on March 2, 2013 in a match against Millouls .

England team

Warnock was first called to the England team on August 29, 2005, the reason for the call was not so much his excellent game, as the shortage of English players who could play in this position. But until 2008, Stephen never once played for the national team. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the Football Association of England does not seriously consider Blackburn as a team that can educate players for the national team. Nevertheless, in May 2008, Fabio Capello summoned Warnock for training camps before two friendly matches of the British against the United States and Trinidad and Tobago . On June 1, Stephen made his debut in the national team of his country in a match with the last of these teams [10] .
