General information
In the name of the municipality there are two meanings: San Pedro - in honor of St. Peter, and Lagunillas - refers to the location near the local lakes [3] .
The area of the municipality is 516 km², which is 1.8% of the state [4] . It borders with other municipalities of Nayarit : in the north with Santa Maria del Oro , in the east with Auacatlan , in the west with Compostela , and in the south of San Pedro Lagunillas it borders with another state - Jalisco .
