The new seven wonders of nature - a contest that was supposed to reveal the seven most important natural places in the world with the help of worldwide popular voting.
The organizer of the competition is the Swiss non-profit organization New Open World Corporation ( NOWC ), which has already announced itself by the election of Seven New Wonders of the World .
The project started in December 2007. Until July 7, 2009, candidates were nominated and pre-selected. As a result, a shortlist of 77 candidates was formed. On July 21, the competition expert council selected 28 finalists from among those who were eligible for universal suffrage. Voting continued until November 11, 2011. During this time, more than 1 million votes were cast.
Seven New Natural Wonders
On November 11, 2011, on the day of “Three Eleven,” new seven wonders of nature were announced. They became:
