History
The municipality was formed in 1835, and then had a much larger territory. Subsequently, the municipalities of Jesus Maria, San Francisco de los Romo and El Llano were allocated from it.
Composition
In 2012, the municipality had 562 settlements. The largest of them:
- Pititos (5169 people)
- Villa Licensiado-Jesus-Teran (4481 people)
- Las Noryas de Ojo Caliente (3741 people)
- Noryas del Paso Ondo (2539 people)
- General-Jose-Maria-Morelos-i-Pavon (2500 people)
