Story
Most of the action of the film takes place in the fictitious Latin American country of Parador ( an allusion with Paraguay - Ecuador , as well as a paradise ( English paradise )). Actor Jack Noah ( Richard Dreyfus ) takes part in the filming of the film. Suddenly, the country's president, dictator Alphonse Simms, is dying of a heart attack. Roberto Strausmann ( Raul Julia ), president’s security chief, urges Jack to temporarily play the role of president instead of the deceased dictator in order to maintain political stability and gain time. Jack agrees and is so successfully accustomed to the image that exceeds all Roberto's expectations.
