Guamuchil ( Spanish: Guamúchil ) is the city and administrative center of the municipality of Salvador Alvarado in Mexico , in the state of Sinaloa . The population, according to the 2010 census, was 63,743 people.

The name Guamúchil can be translated from Nahuatl as a place where Manila tamarind grows .
The city was founded as Hacienda in 1699 under the name San Pedro de Guamucile.
In 1968, Guamucile received city status [3] .
