Comonfort ( Spanish: Comonfort ) is the city and administrative center of the eponymous municipality in the Mexican state of Guanajuato . The population according to the 2010 census was 23,683.

History
The city was founded in 1572 under the name Chamakuero, and in 1591 it was renamed San Francisco-Chamacuero.
In 1874, it was decided to rename the city in Chamacuero de Comonfort, in honor of Mexican President Ignacio Comonfort . Later, only Comfortfort remained in the name.
