U-176 - a large ocean-going German submarine type IX-C , from the Second World War . The order for the construction of the boat was given to the shipbuilding company AG Weser in Bremen on December 23, 1939 . The boat was laid down on February 6, 1941 under building number 1016, launched on September 12, 1941, and on December 15, 1941, under the command of Captain-Lieutenant Reiner Dirksen, it became part of the 4th Flotilla training. August 1, 1942 became part of the 10th flotilla . The boat made 3 military campaigns, in which it sank 10 ships (45,850 gt ) and damaged one ship (7,457 gt ). May 15, 1943 sunk to the north-east of Havana in the area with coordinates depth charges of the Cuban patrol ship CS-13 . All 53 crew members were killed.
