U-157 - a large ocean-going German submarine type IX-C , from the Second World War . The order for the construction of the boat was given to the shipbuilding company AG Weser in Bremen on September 25, 1939 . The boat was laid down on October 21, 1940 under building number 999, launched on June 5, 1941, and on September 15, 1941, under the command of Corvette Captain Wolf Henne, it became part of the 4th Flotilla training. June 1, 1942 became part of the 2nd Flotilla . The boat made 2 military campaigns, in which 1 ship sank (6,401 gross ). June 13, 1942 was sunk by depth charges of the USS Thetis Coast Guard, northeast of Havana, Cuba, in the area with coordinates 24.13N, 82.03W. All 52 crew members were killed.
