Story
Filmmaker Mel Fann ( Mel Brooks ), who has just gotten rid of heavy alcoholism and is on the brink of ruin, wants to return to the set. With his assistants Marty Eggs ( Marty Feldman ) and House Bell ( House Deluis ), he “breaks through” the idea of making a silent comedy at the Great Films studio. The studio is also on the verge of ruin and grabs Mel’s proposal as the last opportunity to stay afloat and not be in the claws of the New York conglomerate “Grab and Tick”. The conglomerate is also on the verge of ruin and is putting all its strength into preventing Mel from starting filming.

- In the film, only one word is spoken - with this word “Non!” The famous mime Marcel Marceau responds to Mel Fann’s offer to star in his film.
- In the film, the stars of world cinema acted in episodes in their own roles: Paul Newman , Lisa Minelli , Burt Reynolds , James Caan and Anne Bancroft (director's wife). In some cases, the episodes with their participation play on the famous hobbies of these stars - for example, the episode with Paul Newman parodies his passion for car racing (Paul Newman arranges wheelchair racing in the hospital with a leg broken during the race).
- In the film, some tricks and famous episodes of silent films of the 1910–20s are played out, as well as the manner typical of the era of silent films to call the permanent characters of actors the real names of the performers.
