“The Man from the Star” ( eng. Starman ) is an American science fiction film by John Carpenter , released in 1984 under the production of Michael Douglas . Jeff Bridges, who played the main role for this film, was nominated for Golden Globe for the first time in his career, nominated for an Oscar for the third time, and also won the Saturn Prize for the first time.

In 1986, the 22-episode serial of the same name was released, continuing the story of the film, but the result was much less popular.
Content
Story
In response to the message of earthlings with the recording of greetings and other information, some extraterrestrial civilization sends a ship to Earth. However, US military aircraft , finding an unidentified object in the sky, knocks it down. One stranger manages to survive the collision of a ship with the earth, and he sneaks into the nearest house, in which the young widow Jenny grieves for the dead spouse Scott. After viewing the photo album and videotapes, as well as finding a memorable strand of Scott's hair, the alien manages to take on the appearance of Scott, having completely copied it at the genetic level.
After contacting his fellow tribesmen, the newcomer reports about the accident, and also learns that he must arrive at a certain place within three days in order to have time to return home with his own. Taking Jenny with him, he sets off on a journey by car, and the pursuit of the military and explorers follow him.
Along the way, he finds himself in various funny situations because of ignorance of the language and customs of earthlings, resurrects a dead deer and sticks into a couple of conflicts. At first, Jenny thinks the alien has kidnapped her. In the end, it awakens warm feelings for the alien in the body of her husband. Between them there is a romantic relationship and, despite the infertility, Jenny becomes pregnant from him.
Having rescued a stranger a couple of times from the hands of the policemen who had almost caught him, Jenny safely transports the stranger to the place of departure. He leaves her, but leaves his knowledge and the genes of her husband's unborn boy.

Filmmakers
Remake
Directed by Shawn Levy , known for the franchise " Night at the Museum ", as well as for the films " Living Steel " and " Next Live Yourself, " will remake the classic tape of John Carpenter's "Man from the Star." Michael Douglas , who produced the original film, will take part in the work on the new version.
