Philippi ( dr. Greek οἱ (λόγοι) Φιλιππικοί - Philippi) - figuratively, angry, revealing speech . The term belongs to the Athenian orator Demosthenes , who made similar speeches against the Macedonian king Philip II in the IV century BC. e. (Four speeches against Philip were preserved, and the fourth is often considered not authentic). In imitation of Demosthenes, Cicero called the Philippians his speeches directed against Marc Anthony (in 44–43 BC, he wrote and survived fourteen such speeches).
