Story
1985 After a fight with Lang and a friendly sparring with Apollo Creed, Rocky returns to her home in Philadelphia to celebrate Paulie's birthday and (almost) 9-year anniversary of her wedding with Adriana. A Soviet boxer and officer arrives in the US - captain Ivan Drago ( Dolph Lundgren ), a fearsome two-meter-long, 118-pound absolute amateur champion, along with his wife Lyudmila, manager Nikolai Koloff and a team of coaches led by Sergei Rimsky to challenge the best American fighters . Surrounded by a wave of patriotism, Apollo Creed, who wants to show himself after leaving the ring, decides to meet in the ring with Drago, despite Rocky’s ill premonition, who ultimately agrees to help a friend in pre-match preparation (the film doesn’t show how serious Apollo’s training sessions for this showdown). At the press conference, Apollo openly finds fault with his opponent and climbs into a fight with him.
Apollo enters the ring, arranging a brighter show than when he first met Rocky, setting up a crowd against a Soviet boxer. The show includes fireworks, the performance by James Brown of the hit "Living in America." Apollo begins to fight in his manner, dancing around the enemy and striking him. However, the Russian boxer, having shown an unexpected agility, delivers a powerful blow and begins to mercilessly beat the disoriented Creed. After the first round, when Apollo barely keeps his feet, Rocky begs him to stop the fight, but he refuses. In the second round there is a tragedy: Apollo, who did not allow Rocky to throw the towel, falls into the ring after the opponent's powerful punches. Rocky climbs into the ring and tries to bring Creed to life. At the same time, Drago calmly and cynically tells reporters: "He will die so he will die."
After the death of his friend Rocky, feeling guilty that he did not stop the fight, and angry at the cold indifference of Drago to Apollo, decides that he must avenge the death of Apollo and assigns the fight to Drago for Christmas in Moscow . There is no money at stake, as the commission refused to sanction this fight. In addition, Balboa is forced to give up the title, since Drago is regarded as an amateur boxer.
Adriana initially cannot understand why Rocky needs to fight Drago, and is afraid for his life, but Rocky refuses to listen. Saying goodbye to his son Robert, Rocky is sent for training in a deserted area of Soviet territory, he is accompanied by former coach Apollo Tony "Duke" Evers and Paulie. Having rejected the proposals of the Soviet side, Rocky has been training on a secluded farm for several months with the help of improvised means, doing jogging through the mountains, chopping wood. Everywhere he is accompanied by KGB agents. Drago uses the most modern high-tech equipment for training and resorts to steroid injections. After one of his runs, Rocky meets Adriana. Thanks to the support of his wife, he trains with even greater zeal.
Members of the Politburo , senior officers of all military branches are present at the duel in Moscow. Drago enters the ring to the anthem of the Soviet Union . A large poster with a picture of Drago appears on the wall.
After the presentation of the two fighters, they go to the center of the ring and the referee explains the rules to them, after which Drago, hitting his fists, ferociously says: "I will break you." The fight began, Drago immediately rushes to the attack, while Rocky tries to combine to slightly compensate for the difference in athleticism and power. But this is not very successful for him. Drago easily ends the first round in his favor. But at the end of the second round, Rocky manages to cut his eyelid, and with this he brings a break in the course of the battle.
The fight turns into a candid slaughter and lasts all fifteen rounds. By the end of the battle, Soviet spectators are surprised by Rocky’s desire and endurance, and they begin to shout his name. Koloff, indignant at this mob of the crowd and frightened that the general secretary would not leave it like that, goes down to the ring and starts scolding Drago. At this time, Drago lifts his collar and throws at the audience, saying: "I will win ... for myself ... FOR YOURSELF! ...". In the fifteenth and final round, both fighters pound each other with all their might, but Drago is finally exhausted, while Rocky finds his last strength and puts them into his final blow, knocking out the opponent.
After his victory, Rocky speaks to the crowd, recognizing their initial and mutual dislike for each other, which had disappeared by the end of the battle. Rocky says: "Yes, today we pounded each other in the ring, but this is better than if we were twenty million." All the spectators, including members of the Politburo, stand applauding to him, and he says that “if I could change ... and you could change, then everyone can change! ...” Rocky also, taking this opportunity, congratulates his son, who is at home, with Christmas.

Reviews
During a trip to the USA by Kati Lycheva with the “ mission of the world ” in March-April 1986, the Soviet press readily published her diary entries about the facets of American life, little known to the Soviet reader. One of these recordings was devoted to the film "Rocky 4". Here is its text:
Before bedtime, we had a bit of free time, and my mother and I turned on the paid television channel in our room to watch the American film Rocky IV. The program was written that this is a film about a Soviet boxer. During the ten days of traveling around the USA, I already missed the house, and I wanted to see something about the Soviet people. The brutal face of an actor who played the role of a so-called Soviet boxer first scared me, and when he killed an American Negro athlete in the ring, I ran to the bedroom, rushed to the bed and burst into tears. I was hurt that this film depicts our country so deceitfully and cruelly ...
The next day, in one of the TV interviews, I said: “In the film“ Rocky IV ”, which is shown on American television, there is not a word of truth about the Soviet Union. Soviet people do not even have such persons. I am ashamed of those adults who made this film. I realized that those who incite hatred towards our people are the first enemies of peace on Earth. ” [3]
