Lev Davidovich Belkind (August 27, 1896 - November 16, 1969 ) - Soviet scientist, engineer and historian, one of the founders of domestic lighting [1] , popularizer of science and technology, author of numerous publications on the history of science and technology. The academic activity of the professor is associated with MPEI (Moscow Power Engineering Institute), in which in 1932 he founded the Department of Lighting Engineering at the Faculty of Physics and Power Engineering (FIZEN). [2] [3] [4] [5] In 1937, he became the first dean of the Faculty of Electro-Physics (ELFIZ) [6] . Subsequently, Prof. Belkind headed the department of the history of technology [7] , and also collaborated with the Institute of the History of Natural History and Technology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR , since its foundation in 1953. Polyglot, fluent in Russian, English, French, German and other European languages, Professor Belkind was engaged in research in the history of science and technology, both domestic and foreign. A recognized authority in the field of the history of Russian science, he is the author of unique works exploring the life and achievements of Russian scientists, emphasizing their contribution to world technological progress. For his many achievements, prof. Belkind was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Science and Technology. [3] [9]

- 1913-1919, Education at the Kharkov Technological Institute, (today - Kharkov Polytechnic Institute)
- 1923-1927, Work in the main electrotechnical department of the Supreme Economic Council of the USSR and the trust "United State Electrotechnical Enterprises of the Central Region".
- 1928, L.D. Belkind takes part in the I international congress on lighting technology
- 1930-1932, Technical Director of the Electrosvet plant
- 1932-1948, Founder and head of the Department of Lighting at the Physics and Power Engineering Department of MPEI (FIZEN) [13]
- 1932 - 1938, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Svetotekhnika magazine
- 1937, First Dean of the Electro-Physics Department of MPEI (ElFIZ)
- 1938, Work in the laboratory of the Moscow Electric Lamp Plant MELZ , with its creation [14]
- 1946-1947, Member of the All-Union Scientific and Technical Session on Lighting Engineering, Chairman of the Lighting Engineering Commission at the Department of Technical Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences [15]
