The village is located at an altitude of 49 meters above sea level [3] .

Legend
According to legend, the army of Stephen the Great , returning from a campaign, stopped at a halt in the apple orchard. Several warriors remained there and established a settlement. The name "Meren" comes from the Moldavian word "least" ( Mold. Mere ) - apples.
In 2017, a monument to the ruddy apple was opened in the village. The monument was made and delivered from the Romanian city of Bistrita [9] .
History
The Merens were first mentioned in the document of Stephen the Great of September 25, 1474 , according to which the request of one rheses from Meren was submitted to the court. The village is also mentioned in documents 1605 and 1796 .
Economics
There are 1664 economic agents registered in Mereny, a pharmacy, a kindergarten, a lyceum, an elementary school, a house of culture, a museum, a library, an Internet club, shops, a stadium, and a gym work.
