Chekalov, Alexander Kalimovich

Alexander Kalimovich Cheklov ( March 15, 1928 - March 6, 1970 ) - Russian art historian. He taught at the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art named after Stroganov (now the Moscow Art and Industrial Institute named after S. G. Stroganov ). Candidate of Art Criticism, the author of numerous articles on the problems of folk and decorative art, published in the pages of the magazines "Decorative Art of the USSR" , "Creativity", etc., as well as the monographs: "Art in Everyday Life" (M., 1961), ā€œThe Basics of Understanding Decorative Artsā€ (M., 1962), ā€œBƤuerliche russische Holzskulpturā€ (Dresden, 1967), ā€œRussisches Volksspielzeugā€ (Dresden, 1972), ā€œAlong the Kokshenge Riverā€ (M., 1973; as part of publishing series ā€œ Roads to the Beautiful ā€), ā€œFolk Wooden Sculpture of the Russian Northā€ (Moscow, 1974).
