Michael Laudrup ( Dat. Michael Laudrup ; June 15, 1964, Copenhagen ) is a Danish soccer player and football coach. As a player, he played as a midfielder for Lazio, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and the Danish national team . In 2006, the Danish Football Federation recognized Laudrup as the best footballer in Danish history. As a coach, he worked with clubs from Denmark, Spain, Russia, England, Qatar. Michael’s sibling, Briand , was also a footballer.

Content
Club career
The son of a famous Danish football player Finn Laudrup . He gained wide popularity in 1983, scoring nine goals in seven games for the Danish national team , after which he was invited to Juventus . He did not immediately find a place in the Turin club, and the player spent two seasons on loan at Lazio . In Juventus, Laudrup has been playing since 1985. In 1989 he moved to Barcelona , in which he replaced the departed Gary Lineker . With Barcelona, Laudrup has won four Spanish championships in a row. Then he moved to Real Madrid , with whom he became the champion in 1995. The Spanish part of Laudrup’s career ended with being named the best legionnaire of the championship over the past 25 years. Laudrup spent the last season in his professional career at Ajax , with whom he made a gold double.
International Career
He made his debut on June 15, 1982 in a game with the Norwegian national team , in which he scored a goal. In 1984, with the national team reached the semifinals of the European Championship . In 1986 - until the 1/8 finals of the World Cup in Mexico . Due to a conflict with the coach of the Danish national team Richard Möller-Nielsen in 1990, he missed the 1992 European Championship , at which the Danish national team became the champion. In 1998, the national team reached the quarter finals of the World Cup .
Coaching career
After the disastrous European Championship for Denmark in 2000, Laudrup became an assistant to the head coach of the national team Morten Olsen. In this position, he worked until the end of the 2002 World Cup , after which he headed his native Brondby . From 2007 to 2008, he served as the head coach of Getafe . He brought the team to the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup. On September 12, 2008, he signed a contract for a year and a half with Moscow Spartak . Dismissed from the post of head coach of Spartak on April 15, 2009 due to unsatisfactory team results at the start of the 2009 season [1] . Later, the coach admitted working at Spartak as a mistake, because he did not know the culture of the country [2] .
In July 2010, the Danish specialist returned to Spain , where he led the Mallorca team on a two-year contract. However, shortly after the start of his second season at the head of the team, he resigned on September 27, 2011 due to a conflict with the club management. June 15, 2012 became the head coach of the Welsh Swansea City , who plays in the English Premier League . Under the contract, Laudrup was supposed to work for 2 years. In the 2012/2013 season, Swansea City won the English League Cup (in the final, Swansea City defeated Bradford 5-0), won the right to play in the Europa League, took 9th place in the Premier League (best the result for 31 years and the second result for the 102-year history of the club). On February 4, 2014, Laudrup was fired from Swansea. [3]
On July 1, 2014, Laudrup headed the Qatari club Lehvia [4] , which in the end of the 2014/15 season became the champion of Qatar [5] . In the summer of 2015, Laudrup was unable to agree with Lechvia on the extension of the contract and left the team [6] .
In the fall of 2015, Laudrup refused to lead the Danish team, explaining his refusal by personal circumstances [7] .
