Common language infrastructure

CLI ( English Common Language Infrastructure ) - a specification of a common language infrastructure. The most famous implementations of this standard are Microsoft .NET Framework , Mono , DotGNU Portable.NET . The CLI specification defines, in particular, the architecture of the .NET runtime system — the CLR and the services provided by the CLR to executable programs, the classes provided by the BCL library, the syntax and mnemonics of the common intermediate language ( CIL ).

The current version (as of late 2007) of the CLI specification is CLI version 3.5.
