The Red Crystal is one of the three emblems of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement [1] .
The International Movement had two universally recognized emblems - a red cross and a red crescent . The National Society of Israel refused to use these symbols, considering them religious, and used the Red Shield of David . Therefore, as a neutral in relation to religions and statehood, they decided to introduce another emblem - Red Crystal - a red square on a white background. This emblem is used along with a red cross and a red crescent.
The adoption of this symbol allowed Israel to join the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and Israeli specialists can now provide medical and humanitarian assistance around the world using the red crystal emblem and protected by international laws.
The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement includes 186 national societies [2] , the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation. At the 29th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent , which took place in 2006 , an additional emblem was adopted by a two-thirds majority.
