Geography
The village is located on the Toguzak river ( Ob basin), 10 km from the Toguzak railway station (on the Troitsk - Kostanay line ), 130 km northwest of the regional center of the city of Kostanay .
History
The village appeared as a resettlement village on the site of the Kazakh aul Utep. Part of the aul has survived to the present day and is located in the southeastern part of the present Karabalyk, practically on the banks of the Toguzak River. During the Great Patriotic War, on October 13, 1941, a decision was made to evacuate the Komsomolets plant from Yegoryevsk near Moscow to the central estate of the Kustanai grain farm, and at the end of 1941 its first production - artillery weapons - went to the front. After the redeployment of the Komsomolets plant back to Yegoryevsk, a mechanical plant was established on its basis (the Toguzak Mechanical Plant named after 25 years of the Kazakh SSR since 1945), and since 1942 the estate of the Kustanai grain farm was called Komsomolets. In 1956, the Komsomol poultry farm was isolated from the Kustanai state farm. In 1963, the district center of the Karabalyksky district was transferred to the village of Komsomolets, and the district was renamed Komsomolsky.
Population
In 1999, the population of the village was 11,768 people (5573 men and 6195 women) [4] . According to the 2009 census, 11,080 people (5,336 men and 5,744 women) lived in the village [4] .
As of January 1, 2016, the population of the village was 11,258 people (5463 men and 5795 women) [5] .
