Tony has huge problems with his wife because of his betrayals, which subsequently led to a one-year disagreement between Tony and Carmela, which almost led to a divorce. In addition to one-time mistresses, Tony had constant partners: the dancer Irina Peltchin, the seller of cars Gloria Trillo (hanged herself, without surviving parting with Tony), an employee of the art gallery Valentina LaPaz. He also had one-time sex with a relative of Irina, Svetlana Kirilenko and with secretary Connie DeSapio. In his youth, he slept with Charmaine Bucco before he married Carmel.
Along with this, Tony runs the most powerful "family" of New Jersey . Tony and. about. the boss (Street Boss), as the official boss of Corrado "Junior" Soprano under FBI house arrest. The relationship between Tony and Junior was very warm for many years, Junior actually replaced his father. But their relationship deteriorated more and more as Tony moved into the Organization , especially after a series of “executions” of Tony’s people, such as Brandon Filone and the subsequent attempt to kill Tony.
His main cover is a consultant at a waste management company. He also used his nephew Christopher Moltisanti as a buffer between him and the police during the past two seasons to divert the attention of the FBI . But after he killed Christopher, after a car accident, he made Bobby Bakkalieri his buffer. Soon, however, Bobby was assassinated by order of Phil Leotardo, the new boss of the "family" Lupertazzi during the war between the clans of DiMeo and Lupertazzi. Still, the people of Tony were the first to find and eliminate Phil, having previously agreed with the capo of Lupertazzi on a ceasefire. The last scene in the series - the whole Soprano family gathers in a restaurant and suddenly the screen turns black a few seconds before the final credits. This ending is still controversial. According to some reports, Tony was shot dead by a man who went into a restaurant with his son.
Past
Tony was born on August 22, 1959 in the family of Olivia and John Soprano. He lived with his mother, father and two sisters, Janice and Barbara, in Newark . His father was always engaged in criminal business and little Tony several times became an unwitting witness to his father's activities.
Tony portrayed several actors as a child and in his youth. Bobby Borrielo played little Tony in the episode “Down Neck”, in the series where Tony recalls the first time he witnessed the criminal activities of his father.
Tony went to school with Artie Bucco and David Scatino, who remained his friends after school. In high school, Tony meets Carmela DeAngelis, his future wife. Tony was friends with his cousin, Tony Blandetto, and even the block guys called them Tony Uncle Johnny and Tony Uncle Al (by the names of their fathers).
Both Tony spent the summer on the farm of Uncle Tony Blandetto - Pat Blandetto, who was a soldier in DiMeo's "family". Sometimes Christopher Moltisanti came to the farm, whom they periodically mocked. Tony Blandetto was later arrested for participating in a robbery of a truck. Tony Soprano was supposed to join Blanetto, but fainted after a quarrel with his mother, writing the legend that he was beaten by black bandits. Tony also tried to go to college, but after one and a half semester he flew out.
Tony was a member of the DiMeo informal group consisting of Jackie April Elder, Ralph Sifaretto, and Silvio Dante. Once they did a stupid thing at first glance, exposing the old man Laman. Everyone except Ralphi took part in the robbery of the underground casino "Feature", since he picked up the tripper . Actually Michel Lamana was going to just dunk the boys, but Giovanni "Joni" Soprano, Tony's father, had too many connections to just kill his son, in turn, Giacomo Aprila was pulled out of this situation by his older brother. Silvio went on a train. After this story, friends quickly went to the Organization . Tony committed the first ever murder on Labor Day 1982 .
His father was a mentor to Tony until his death from emphysema in 1986 . Shortly before this, Joni Soprano was appointed capo of the “family” of DiMeo, the same rank was in his older brother, nicknamed Junior. It was Uncle Junior who became Tony's mentor when he was initiated. Tony for some time paid all the bills in restaurants, like a newcomer to the team. Later, Tony himself was appointed capo and took his father's place in his team. It included: Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bompansiero, Polly Galtieri and Silvio Dante.
In 1995, Tony was a respected capo in DiMeo's "family" when the family's boss, Ackley DiMeo, was jailed. One of Tony's best friends, Jackie April Senior, became the boss of the "family." Under his wise guidance, the “family” of DiMeo flourished and coexisted in the world with other “families” until 1998 . In 1998, Jackie was found to have cancer and he could no longer fully perform the functions of a boss, so Tony took on most of the functions, which could not but anger Junior.
In early 1999, Jackie April Senior, after a successful operation, again began to act as boss, reassuring team members. But in the spring of that year, Jackie was again admitted to the hospital and started doing chemotherapy . Relations between Tony and Junior were getting worse and worse due to Tony’s increasing role in family affairs and disagreement on many issues, such as Tony’s refusal to participate in the murder of Pussy Malang.
After the death of Jackie April the Elder in mid-1999, the DiMeo clan froze in anticipation of a war, but Tony was able to prevent the war by making Junior the nominal boss of the "family." Junior played the role of a lightning rod, and de facto the boss was Tony.
Murders committed directly by Tony
- 1982 - Willie Overoll. Shot by Tony in his youth to join the Organization .

- 2000 - Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bompansiero. Shot by Tony, Polly and Silvio for betrayal.
- 2002 - Ralph Sifaretto. Tony was strangled due to suspicions of the killing of their running horse, which was the last argument. Before the incident with My Pie, he also committed a number of misconducts.
- 2004 - Tony Blandetto. Tony is killed for the murders of Joe Pips and Billy Leotardo, in order to prevent a war with the Lupertazzi clan.
- 2007 - Christopher Moltisanti. Having received a serious injury in a car accident, he admitted to Tony that he drove the car “high”. Soprano, escaped with minor injuries, decides to postpone the call of the rescue service. Christopher, because of his drug addiction , became an increasingly dangerous and unreliable ally. In addition, Tony suspected that Chris hated him and wished him dead. Clutching Christopher's nose with his fingers, Tony shuts off oxygen to him, which makes him die.
- On his own, Tony committed at least eight murders, but one must also take into account the murders he organized for many people, for which he is fully responsible as the mafia boss.
Tony Soprano as a father
Tony has two children: Madow Soprano and Anthony Soprano the Younger. Tony also refers to Christopher, the cousin of his wife Carmela, as his son.
Tony is always shown as a loving father - he observes the sports achievements of his children, wishes them happiness and does not want to get them into his criminal life.
But Tony also has conflicts with children because of his behavior. He always tried to hide his criminal life from children, but he did not always succeed. Madow found out the truth about her father from the newspapers, later telling her younger brother.
Tony has a very tense relationship with his daughter because of attempts to protect her from people undesirable in his opinion. So the first boyfriend of Madow was an African American with an admixture of Jewish blood and racism Tony pushed him away from Madow.
Tony was truly happy when his daughter started dating Jackie April the Younger, the son of her best friend Jackie April the Elder. Before his death, Jackie Soprano promised that he would keep his son on the right track. Tony believed that Jackie the Younger is a diligent student at a medical university.
But after the liberation of Uncle Jackie the Younger - Richie April and his subsequent death, Jackie is more and more embroiled in the affairs of the mafia . This was due to the desire of Ralph Sifaretto, the capo of the family, who was also the new “guy” of Jackie’s mother. Tony realized this after he once discovered Jackie in a strip club and an underground casino. Soprano beat him and took the gun (given to him by Ralph), but that did not help. Jackie April participated in one robbery and helped Ralph in petty affairs, on the side with friends bargained in ecstasy . As a result, under the influence of stories about his semi-legendary father, Jackie and his friends attempted to rob a card game hosted by Ralph Sifaretto, attended by Christopher Moltisanti, and killed one of the family members, several of Jackie's friends were injured or killed, but he left. In punishment for this, after a while Vito Spatafore, by order of Ralph Sifaretto, kills Jackie. Because of this, Madow fell into a deep depression, although they broke up shortly before the death of Jackie.
Gradually, Madow emerges from depression and begins dating a Californian Finn. When they announce their engagement , Tony fully approves the choice of his daughter, but after a while Madow and Finn depart for California.
Soprano is very worried about the future of his son - Anthony the Younger. Tony does not want to entangle him into his mafia affairs, but the son inherited the mind and aggressive nature of his father. Soprano is very upset by the poor study of his son at school, but his success in football is encouraging.
Anthony the Younger was expelled from his first school for burglary control results. This infuriates Tony and he tries to send his son to a military academy ( boarding school for boys from grades 7 to 12), however, Anthony the Younger faints a day before starting his studies and the attempt fails. After that, Tony sends his son to another private school, which he hardly finishes and then still goes to college.
After some time, Anthony the Younger flies out of college and begins to lead a wild life, earning money on the Blockbuster video rental network, until his father arranges it for a construction worker as a laborer to save his son from the fate of Jackie April the Younger. There Anthony the Younger met Blanca and, despite their difference in age and nationality, fell in love with her. Later, the girl left him and Anthony the Younger fell into a deep depression.
Hoping to help his son, Tony finds his son's former friends, the Jason, the sons of his people. Anthony the Younger gets better and he returns to college, where he leads a normal student life. But he again gets depressed when he sees his friends beating a Somali student. He decides to drown himself, but when he jumps into the pool he realizes that he wants to live and screams for help, and in time Tony arrives in time to save his son. After that, parents send Anthony the Younger for rehabilitation , but after passing it, depression continues to manifest itself and he decides to join the army . Parents manage to dissuade their son from this venture and arrange him in the production company of Carmine Lupertazzi the Younger.
Therapy
Tony from childhood suffered from panic attacks , because of which he sometimes lost consciousness. His first attack on the screen is already shown in the pilot issue, where he lost consciousness when he fried sausages for his son's birthday. Later, Tony compared his sensations during attacks with sudden alcohol intoxication. After a series of medical studies and tests that showed no deviations, he, secretly from everyone, decides to go to an appointment with a psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi.
Tony's Injury
In the first season, Tony Sopranos tried to kill John Claiborne and Rashin Ray, two “sixes” sent by Donnie Paduan (who, in turn, was the man of Corrado “Junior” Soprano) to kill Tony. Soprano manages to fight off them, but, fleeing the attackers, he crashes into a pole, earning bruises in a car accident.
He had an accident with Christopher's girlfriend Moltisanti Adriana when he drove her after work to the meeting place where they planned to spend the night together, in the absence of Christopher.
In the first episode of season six, his uncle Junior, suffering from dementia , mistakes Tony for Malang's Little Pussy and shoots him in the stomach. Tony manages to dial 911 , but loses consciousness before he manages to explain to the operator the reason for his call.
In the second episode of season six, Soprano is in a deep coma . During a coma, Tony has a dream, as he ends up in some state, which may well turn out to be purgatory or another version of his life. But in the third series, he emerges from a coma and is quickly recovering.
In the fourth episode, Tony is finally recovering, but his attitude towards life is changing dramatically.
In the sixth episode of the last nine episodes of the series, Tony gets into a car accident, as a result of which his nephew Christopher Moltisanti dies. Tony escaped with minor injuries, but this disaster greatly frightened his family.
