History
The name of the village comes from the word "farmer" ( Mold. Paharnic , cup ) - the boyar's rank in medieval Moldova , whose functions included, in particular, managing gospodar vineyards.
Geography
The village is located at an altitude of 58 meters above sea level [2] .

According to the 2004 census , 951 people live in the village of Pohornichen (454 men, 497 women) [3] .
