The Thirteenth Kriegsmarine Submarine Flotilla was commissioned in June 1943 with a base in Trondheim , north of the 11th Kriegsmarine Submarine Flotilla . Separate boats of the 13th Flotilla were based in Narvik and Hammerfest . The permanent commander of the flotilla was Corvette-Captain Rolf Rygggeberg. In addition to the main task, attacks on convoys in the USSR, boats of the 13th flotilla carried out meteorological activities and operations to refuel seaplanes - Bv-138 scouts .
In 1944, the flotilla experienced an influx of boats from France, which led to the reorganization of the unit by creating the 14th flotilla from Narvik -based boats. The 13th flotilla was disbanded in May 1945 after the surrender of Germany.
