Emerald City ( English Emerald City ) - a fictional city from the cycle of stories of Lymen Frank Baum about the fabulous country of Oz , as well as the works written by them based on Alexander Volkov and other authors. First mentioned in the first book of the cycle, “The Amazing Wizard of Oz ” (1900). The city is located in the magical land of Oz, but this country itself is located in a fairy tale continent in the middle of an impassable desert in Baum’s fairy tales, while Volkov’s is in North America and, in addition to the desert, is surrounded by a ring of mountains [1] .
The emerald city was built by order of Oz (U Volkova - Goodwin ). The city was surrounded by a wall, and real emeralds shone on the towers of the city. A yellow brick road connected the city with the country of Zhevunov .
