Content
History
The medal was established during the Georgian-Abkhaz war to reward soldiers for courage on the battlefield. Both Abkhazian military personnel and fighters of the volunteer corps — the North Caucasus, the Russian Cossack, and Transnistrian — were awarded the medal.

Description
The “For Courage” medal is made of bronze and has the shape of a circle with a diameter of 32 mm. On the front side of the coin is a convex image of a rider with a bow in his outstretched arm. Horseman - is the main figure of the state emblem of Abkhazia . This is the hero of the Nart epic Sasrykva (Sosruko) shooting down an arrow from a sky with an arrow. The image of the horseman is bordered with a laurel wreath , an oak wreath is located below. On the reverse side of the coin is an inscription in the Abkhaz language “Agumsharaz” ( “For Courage” ).
The medal is connected with an ear and a ring to a pentagonal block covered with a silk moire ribbon 24 mm wide. The ribbon is vertically divided into 3 equal parts of red, white and green - three colors of the Abkhaz national flag .
