Biography

Born in Krasnopole, now the Mogilev region of Belarus . In 1896, he moved with his family to the village of Kamenskoye (in the city of Dneprodzerzhinsk in 1936–2016).

Since 1904, a member of the RSDLP . He conducted underground revolutionary work in Yekaterinoslav , Baku and other cities. He was repeatedly arrested and exiled (to the Vologda , Arkhangelsk province and to Eastern Siberia ).

In 1911 he studied at the party school Longjumeau , organized by V.I. Lenin near Paris . He was a delegate to the 6th (Prague) Conference of the RSDLP ( 1912 ), represented a group of Menshevik party members. After the conference, he completely took up Bolshevik positions.

In 1915 - a member of the Baku Committee of the Bolsheviks. After the February Revolution of 1917, he worked at the Moscow Council of Workers' Deputies, and carried out instructions from the Moscow District Committee of the RSDLP (b).

Since August 1917 in Baku, in the Union of Oil Industrial Workers. One of the leaders in the struggle to establish Soviet power in Azerbaijan . In the Baku SNK (since April 1918 ) - Commissioner of Labor; carried out the most important measures of the Soviet government in the social sphere. After the temporary fall of Soviet Power in Baku ( July 31, 1918), he was arrested and killed on September 20, 1918, among 26 Baku commissars .
