Creation History
In the early 1960s, Blake Edwards decided to remove the detective farce about the stupid inspector Clouseau . The film was called "Pink Panther" - in honor of the huge diamond of astronomical value, around which the whole action spins. According to the director, each series was to be preceded by an animated screensaver. Fritz Freeling was invited to create it. Edwards turned to him in 1962, proposing a joint work to create the image of the Pink Panther. In total, about 150 options were made, and then Edwards asked to make an entire cartoon, preceding the credits of the film, with its own plot. After the premiere, the cartoon received better press responses than the film itself.
The panther has a name - Pinky ( English Pinky ). It should be noted that Panther is a male character. The main adversary of Panther is the Man with a big nose (Big Nose Man), who, thanks to the efforts of the Pink hero, can’t build a house (in the cartoon “ Pink Blueprint ”, 1966), he can’t sleep normally (“ Rock-a-Bye Pinky ” , 1966), then he does not manage to feed the builders' fill (in “ Pink Blue Plate ”, 1971), etc. Pink also has new opponents - a gang of three dogs: the thug Pog, the thin Louis and the Boss, the shortest of triples; in addition to them, a blue anteater and a shaman from the island also appear.
Impact
- In the Taiwanese TV series “ zh: 海派 甜心 ”, the name of the protagonist, the silly teenager Da Lang, came directly from the onomatopoeic imitation of the main musical theme of the cartoon, which was his favorite tune, while Pink Panther herself was his favorite toy.
